Typical price ranges

A simple, professional website built on a template platform commonly runs a few hundred to around $2,000 including basic setup, and often carries a modest monthly hosting or platform fee. A custom-designed site with more pages, photography, and SEO work can run $3,000-$10,000+, which usually only makes sense once a business has the lead volume and revenue to justify a bigger marketing investment.

What it actually needs to do

The website's job is simple: make it obvious what you do, where you work, and how to contact you — in that order, within the first screen a visitor sees. Clear service pages, real project photos (not stock images), a visible phone number and contact form, and customer reviews do more for conversion than a fancy animation or a clever tagline ever will.

Don't skip the ongoing part

A website that's never updated with new project photos or current service areas quietly stops converting over time, even if it looked great on launch day. Budget a small amount of ongoing time or money for updates, and make sure whoever builds it actually hands you the ability to edit it yourself — plenty of contractors get locked into paying a developer for every small text change because that wasn't set up correctly from the start.
